Magic: The Gathering, Console Style

I haven’t written much lately because I’ve been consumed by a downloadable game on Xbox Live Arcade with the longest name in video game history.  That game is Magic:  The Gathering:  Duels of the Planeswalkers.  Believe it or not, it’s actually very good especially for a console version.  I’ll be coming out with a full review very soon, but for now I can sum it up like this:

  1. Controls and navigation through cards feel almost perfect.
  2. No learning curve from paper Magic to this version.
  3. Lots of modes and replay value for a $10 game.

  1. Enough bugs that it deserves mentioning.  All small but all need fixed
  2. If you’ve never played MTG before you’re much, much better off learning with the actual cards with someone teaching you.

All in all, this is an above average game especially when you consider the price tag and what they have put into it.  It just needs tweaked a little.  If you’ve played Magic before even only a few times GET THIS GAME.  It’s probably in the top 5 best buys on XLA as long as you’re somewhat familiar with the rules.
