Daily Gaming Experience 05/10

Just wanted to go a little bit, but not too far into the whole fanboyism of PlayStation 3 vs. Xbox 360. I’d just like to note some main points about each system and the features they have. Frankly I’m a little too old for this (I had my fill during the Super NES/Genesis days), but the main point is that if you have only one system just enjoy the damn thing and if you have both, great!

1. Xbox 360 has an extensive online dashboard with lots of things to do. PlayStation 3 also has one, albeit with not nearly as many features. However with a PS3 you don’t have to pay a single penny. You don’t have to pay to simply play games on Xbox 360 either, but you won’t get most of what the service has to offer.

2. PS3 has a good many exclusives that are very popular. The Uncharted series, God of War series, Metal Gear (for now), Little Big Planet, Heavy Rain, and Gran Turismo (when it releases) are all really good games. Xbox 360 has its share of exclusives people seem to enjoy as well: the Halo series, Gears of War series, Fable series, Alan Wake, and the Forza Motorsport series have all been received well too. I would give the edge in total number of exclusives to the PS3 but it’s marginal and when it comes right down to it everyone has different tastes so some of these titles might not even matter to you. Regardless, if exclusive games are important to you for whatever reason the PS3 has a slight edge.

3. Both systems are made by huge companies so throwing money at them to make them successful is not an issue.

4. Graphical differences are negligible. Every once in awhile you’ll come across a game that seems to perform better on one console than the other, but this again is negligible.

5. Both systems have a ton of good games, in fact they both have more good games than any person has time for. The point? Stop arguing over trivial things like which console is the best and enjoy your games! 95% of games released are on both consoles anyways, so stop worrying so much about what your neighbor is playing at his/her house!
